The Consulate General of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Batumi, Georgia, organized a commemorative event on March 31 - Azerbaijani Genocide Day. Opening the event with an introductory speech, the Consul General of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Batumi, Fuad Azizov, provided detailed information about the historical essence of the March 31 genocide, the deep traces left by this tragedy in the memory of the Azerbaijani people, as well as the mass killings and deportations committed against our people at the beginning of the 20th century.
Later, a film-story titled “March 31 - History of the Moment” was shown as part of the event.
The memorial event was attended by employees of the Consulate General, representatives of the SOCAR Batumi Representative Office and the Kulevi Oil Terminal, local public representatives and our compatriots living in the city. The event participants commemorated the victims of the March 31 genocide with deep sadness and respect.
Finally, the dear memory of the victims of the genocide was commemorated with a minute of silence.
