On 26 February 2026, a memorial ceremony was held at the Consulate General of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Batumi, Georgia, on the occasion of the 34th anniversary of the Khojaly genocide that occurred on 26 February 1992. The event began with the playing of the National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan, then Consul General Fuad Azizov made a speech and provided detailed information about the historical and political essence of the tragedy that occurred in Khojaly, the gross violation of international humanitarian law and the unprecedented atrocities committed against the civilian population. The National Flag of the Republic of Azerbaijan was lowered to half-mast in the administrative building of the Consulate General, and the dear memory of the Khojaly martyrs was commemorated with a minute of silence.
