The Consulate General of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Batumi held a memorial ceremony dedicated to the victims of the Khojaly genocide on February 27, 2026 at the Orta Cami Mosque in Batumi.
The purpose of organizing the event in the mosque was to read prayers for the souls of our martyrs, perform religious rituals, and give a special spiritual tone to the ceremony. As part of the memorial ceremony, verses from the Qurani Karim were recited, prayers were read for the souls of the victims of the Khojaly genocide, and the dear memory of our martyrs was commemorated with deep respect.
The ceremony was attended by employees of the Consulate General, members of the Azerbaijani community living in Batumi, representatives of religious communities, and representatives of the local community.
The memorial ceremony held in the mosque was of great importance both in strengthening national solidarity among our compatriots and in communicating the Khojaly tragedy to the international community.
